제목 Photothermal Manganese oxide coated Carbon Nano-Onions with rapid tumor oxygenation for multimodal cancer therapy and imaging
초록 Tumor microenvironments play a significant role in cancer metabolism and proliferation. Tumor hypoxia, or reduced oxygen supply is a distinctive characteristic feature in most of the solid tumors that is stemmed from the distorted tumor vasculatures and hyper proliferation of cancer cells, which plays a crucial role in cancer proliferation and metastases. Here, we developed photothermal manganese oxide coated carbon nano-onions (CNO-MnO2) as a novel theranostic nanotool to effective mitigate the tumor hypoxia and induce effective cancer therapy. Our results show that reduction in the tumor hypoxia resulted in reduced tumor angionesis and controlled the metastases of the tumors. Moreover, the photothermal activity by CNO-MnO2 effectively controlled the cancer cell proliferation and initiated tumor angiogenesis in tumor mice, which resulted in 100% tumor reduction. These findings suggest CNO-MnO2 to be an efficient nanomaterial for cancer therapy.
