Morphology and Photoluminescence Studies on Nanoparticles of Colloidal Polypyrrole |

Grain-, wire- and libbon-shaped nanopaticles of colloidal polypyrrole have been synthesized in the presence of various surfactants with different oxidizing agents in either aqueous or hydrocarbon solvents. The size variation of the polypyrrole nanoparticles is highly dependent on the relative ratio of monomer/oxidant/surfactant. When oxidant/monomer ratio decreased, the nanoparticle size decreased significantly. The surfactant/monomer ratio also affected the size of the colloidal PPy nanoparticles. SEM observations of spin coating showed that the highest photoluminescence (PL) intensity in a given series of concentration corresponds to smallest size of PPy nanoparticles. In this studies photoluminescence (PL) spectra are recorded for different morphology of colloidal PPy and will be discussed in detail. |
