A simple and effective template-free approach has been used to synthesize hierarchical porous polymer (HPP) from pyrene as monomer, zinc bromide as Friedel crafts catalyst, and bromomethyl methyl ether (BME) as cross-linker. Methylene cross-linking bridges, which are obtained from bromomethyl methyl ether cross linker in polypyrene HPP, provide a spherical morphology. For further modification, uncross-linked bromo methyl group present in the polypyrene HPP treated with cysteamine dihydrochloride in the presence of triethylamine as catalyst and dichloromethane as solvent; obtained cysteamine modified porous polypyrene (Cys-HPP). This Cys-HPP is further fabricated with gold nanoparticle (Au@Cys-HPP) and characterized by FTIR, SEM and XRD. The Au@Cys-HPP showed excellent catalytic performance for the reduction of aromatic nitro compounds using NaBH4 as the reductant. The reaction was completed within 30 min. Au@Cys-HPP easily separated by filtration after catalytic reaction. |
