It is well known that dissolved oxygen (DO) has a harmful effect on the corrosion of system materials in nuclear power plant (NPP). For the purpose of developing the best method for DO removal from make-up water storage tank, membrane-based oxygen removal system (MORS) was proposed. MORS has many advantages than other methods for example, friendly environmental process, versatility of operation conditions with high temperature and low pressure, small space, low cost and so on. In addition, to obtain better efficiency of MORS, we modified the polypropylene (PP) hollow fiber membrane by plasma treatment and supported palladium (Pd) as metal catalyst on the surface of the membrane. Plasma treatment was carried with atmospheric pressure plasma using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) technology. After supporting of Pd catalyst on the surface of PP hollow fiber membrane, we fabricated and evaluated the physical properties and DO removal efficiency of small deoxygenation cartridge. From the results, we confirmed that the DO removal efficiency of catalytic deoxygenation membrane exceeded in that of conventional membrane with hydrogen condition. |
