Mesoporous silica nanoparticle based photo-responsive drug releasing system |

Mesoporous silica nanoparticle (MSN) has been studied for a decade as a drug delivery carrier due to its surface-pore biphasic structure and high biocompatibility. Recently, light-responsive drug delivery system has been issued because light is the stimulus which is spatially and temporally controllable by modulating wavelength and power. However, the UV-light, which is generally used in bioapplication, is not appropriate for practical drug delivery system because it cause damage on tissue and has a low penetration depth to body. Herein, we prepared specific crosslinker which can be broken by long-wavelength light and then developed photosensitizer-loaded MSN linked with drug by using above-mentioned crosslinker. This material showed an improved drug releasing profile response to irradiation of long-wavelength light. There, it can be concluded that this novel concept shows the potential for further application of controllable drug delivery system. |
