Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization for Reactive Polymer Brushes Grafted on ITO Substrates for Organic Memory Device |

Organic memory devices (OMDs) have recently attracted strong interest with its promising high performance as well as inexpensive alternatives. Many researchers have so far studied OMDs with different types of molecules. Among them, TEMPO molecules are promising candidates because of its fast response. Herein, we demonstrate reactive polymer brush platforms, based on pentafluorophenyl methacrylates (PFPMAs) monomers, on ITO substrates prepared by the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). By controlling the degree of polymerization and grafting density of the brush, the film thickness of polymer brushes was characterized by AFM. The reactive polymer brushes were then modified with TEMPO molecules and characterized by FT-IR. The detailed synthesis and characterization of reactive polymer brushes grown from ITO substrates with ATRP as well as the possibility of using such well-defined reactive polymer brushes for OMDs will be discussed. |
