This study investigated the production of hydrogen over Cu (0.1,0.5,1.0,5.0 mol-%) incorporated ZnO nanoparticles (CuxZnyO) prepared by hydrothermal treatment. XRD confirmed that Cu was inserted into the framework of ZnO. The photocurrent increased in the Cu-incorporated catalysts. The amount of hydrogen produced by the methanol water mixture decomposition was higher in the Cu-incorporated catalysts than in the ZnO catalysts. Especially, the Cu0.01Zn0.99O catalyst showed the best hydrogen production performance. In this paper, IMVS was measured to compare the lifetime of excited electrons during photo-catalytic reaction. As a result, it has been found that the lifetime of electrons is longer on a Cu-inserted ZnO catalyst than in ZnO. |
