The sulfonated poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (SPPO) was fabricated for the unitized regenerative fuel cells(URFCs). When the content of sulfonic acid functional groups (SO3H) was high, membrane’s water uptake was highly increased. And the proton conductivity of the SPPO membrane grew. It is assumed that the increased proton conductivity is due to the introduction of many proton sources (-SO3H groups) and good dissociation of sulfuric acid functional groups in a fully hydrated state. Additionally, the composite membrane was performanced in the unit cell test with URFCs. |
