Repetitive control and on-line optimization of SMB process based on successive linearization of cubic spline collocation model |

A two-step control strategy for the simulated moving bed (SMB) process is proposed. Repetitive control (RC)for desired product purities is carried out in thefirst stepand optimumflow rates of feed and desorbent are determined in thesecond step, both of which are based on a fundamental SMB model which isa set of nonlinear discrete-time dynamic equations using the cubic spline collocation method and exact discretization. For RC, the SMB model is linearized successively around the operating trajectories in the previous period. The integrated product purities are assumed to be available as averagetimes over each switching period with analysis delay. Through numerical studies with linear isotherm, the proposed strategy was found to perform satisfactorily againstvarious uncertainties and purity specifications. |
