Arthrospira platensis (A. platensis) is a microscopic and filamentous cyanobacterium that derives its name from the spiral or helical nature of its filaments. A. platensis has a 62% amino acid content and is the world`s richest natural source of vitamin B12 and contains a whole spectrum of natural mixed carotene and xanthophylls phyco-pigments. Previously reported of random mutagen were divied to physical mutagen and chemical mutagen. Physical mutagen is irradiate to cell by beam, electron beam, ion beam and ultraviolet ray. Chemical mutagen is treated to cell by chemicals that ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS), methyl methan sulphonate(MMS), N-methyl-N'-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) and N-Nitroso-N-methylurea(NMU). In this study, we identified to characteristic of A. platensis mutant by chemicals. |
