Synthesis and Characterization of Noble Au nanoparticle suspension by Electrical Explosion of Wire in Deionized Water |

In this paper, we report a novel single-step method for preparation noble Au nanoparticles by electrical explosion of wire in deionized (DI) water in the absence of any additives. The morphology and composition of the as-prepared powders were observed by field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The size and lattice image of the particles were analysed using high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The dispersion property of the as-prepared Au nanoparticles in DI water was evaluated by sedimentation photograph, Turbiscan lab device and Zeta-Potential measurement. It is found that Au nanoparticle prepared in DI water had spherical shape with particles size ~150 nm according to explosion conditions. The as-prepared Au particles were not contaminated in the DI water during the evaporation and condensation of explosion process and had extremely good crystallinity. The Au nanoparticles produced from 0.1mm wire exhibited stable dispersion property for 6 months in the DI water at room temperature and at 40oC, respectively |
