Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are interesting model surfaces to study interfacial interactions with materials placed on them. We have investigated pharmaceutical materials growing on SAMs to understand the role of interfacial interactions in directing crystal nucleation. In this presentation, we report the solution crystallization of caffeine and its co-crystals controlled by SAMs with functionalities of -CH3, -COOH, and -OH. Also, we compare the current study with the previously reported case of the sublimation crystallization of caffeine. |
