Biocompatible Polymer Blend Films with Oragnic Thin Film Transisor Properties |

The blend films of poly(3-hexyl thiophene) (P3HT) and poly(2-(2-acetoxyacetyl) ethyl methacrylate) (PHEMAAA)with different weight ratios (i.e. P3HT/PHEMAAA = 75/25, 50/50, and 25/75) were prepared. Their organic thin film transistor (OTFT) property and biocompatibility were studied by comparing with the pure polymers, a conducing polymer, P3HT and a biocompatible polymer, PHEMAAA. We found that this polymer blend combination can produce the multifunctional films with OTFT property and biocompatibility without the inhibition of each polymer part. Particularly, the blend film having 75 wt% of PHEMAAA showed the most excellent cell viability as well as good OTFT device performances indicating the optimal blend ratio. These could be explained by surface analysis results including molecular orientation, morphology, and composition. It is expected that P3HT/PHEMAA blends are very promising to use in various biomedical fields as both an active layer and a scaffold. |
