Block copolymers can spontaneously self-assemble in a selective solvent to form micelles of various morphologies, such as spherical micelle, cylindrical micelle, vesicle and so on. Recently, we reported the donut-shaped micelles of highly uniform shape and size using PI-b-P2VP (polyisoprene-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine)) in polar solvent. In block copolymer solution system, not only solvent but also composition of block copolymer can affect the structure of micelles. For this, temperature-gradient interaction chromatography (TGIC) is a powerful tool by virtue of its good resolution for the separation according to the copolymer. In this study, we fractionated PI-b-P2VP according to the PI block length by using TGIC. Nonpolar stationary phase was used to increase the interaction with PI block while minimizing the interaction with polar P2VP block. The variation of shape and size of PI-b-P2VP upon the composition were investigated by AFM and DLS. |
