White-Light Emitting Electro-Spun Sheet Composed of Poly(ethylene oxide) Fibers Containing Hyperbranched Conjugated Polymer |

Electrospinning is a simple and efficient method for the fabrication of long fibers with diameters on both the micro and nanoscale. Moreover, light emitting devices composed of fibers by electrospinning have the advantages with a wide range of applications including surface light sources. We fabricated white light emitting polyethylene oxide (PEO) sheets including hyperbranched conjugated polymer with various concentration by electrospinning. The hyperbranched conjugated polymer used here has a unique property which shows a variety of fluorescence colors depending on the concentration in the matrix polymer (PEO) due to intermolecular exciton migration. Therefore, the PEO sheets can be tuned to emit various fluorescent colors including white with simple changes in the contents of polymers in PEO matrix. This simple method fabricating microfibers including conjugated polymer in the polymer matrix provides a great potential for inexpensive flexible light emitting device fabrication. |
