제목 | Nano-indentation Study of the BPDA-based Polyimide Thin Films |
초록 | The nano-indentation study of the poly(p-phenylene biphenyltetracarboximide) (BPDA-PDA), poly(4,4’-biphenylene biphenyltetracarboximide) (BPDA-BZ), poly(4,4’-oxydiphenylene biphenyltetracarboximide) (BPDA-ODA), and poly(4,4’-sulfonyldiphenylene biphenyltetracarboximide) (BPDA-DDS) polyimide thin films has been examined with nano-indenter. In addition, their morphological structures were investigated with prism coupler and wide angle X-ray diffractometer. The hardness of the BPDA-based polyimide thin films varied from 0.344 to 0.749 and was in the following increasing order: BPDA-DDS < BPDA-ODA < BPDA-BZ < BPDA-PDA. Their birefringence varied from 0.0124 to 0.2464 and was in the following increasing order: BPDA-DDS < BPDA-ODA < BPDA-PDA < BPDA-BZ . It shows that the hardness of the polyimides was significantly affected by the morphological structures including the molecular packing order and crystallinity. For each polyimide thin film, the hardness decrease with increasing loads (from 0.085 to 0.165 mN).
