Recently, the anticancer effect of heparin is newly being noticed, derived from specific protein-binding ability of heparin. Our group has focused to develop conjugates of polysaccharides and other functional polymers for various applications. In this study, self-assembled nanogels of heparin-Pluronic conjugate were developed to apply to cytoplasmic delivery of various drugs such as proteins, plasmid and other drugs. In particular, the negatively charged surface of the nanogels was coated with chitosan, cationic polysaccharide, to enhance intracellular uptake. The feasibility of the nanogels as a cytoplasmic delivery carrier was evaluated by in vitro cell studies. Our study will demonstrate that chitosan-coated heparin-Pluronic nanogels are a promising drug carrier for effective cytoplasmic delivery, showing improved cellular uptake as compared to existing carriers. |
