제목 Preparation and Characterization of Montmorillonite/UHMWPE Nanocomposites
초록 A novel ultrahigh molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE)/montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposite was prepared by melt intercalation technique using Na+-MMT modified with octadecylammonium chloride as a surface modifier. The thermal and mechanical properties of the UHMWPE/MMT system were investigated. The structure feature of nanocomposite was determined by X-ray diffracrtion. It could be seen that the UHMWPE/MMT nanocomposites were formed with exfoliation of MMT in the polymer matrix. Through the result of TGA, it was concluded that the thermal stability was increased as the MMT content increased. DMA result showed the glass transition temperature was increased by the addition of MMT. The nanocomposites showed higher tearing energy and tensile strength than those of the pristine UHMWPE, which could be attributed to the increase of intermolecular interaction between MMT and polymer matrix. In summary, the nanoscaled MMT dispersed in UHMWPE matrix could dramatically improve the thermal and mechanical properties of UHMWPE.
