Solid state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been attracted in recent years because they overcome the problem of liquid state DSSCs such as evaporation and leakage of liquid electrolyte. Here, a SnO2 nanotube (SNT) was used as quasi-solid-state electrolytes for solid state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSSCs). Compared to nano-gel electrolytes based DSSCs showing almost 5.3% of cell efficiency, the enhanced cell efficiencies were obtained from 9 wt% SNT electrolyte (5.8%). The enhanced performance by SNT was resulted from effective light harvesting properties of quasi-solid-state electrolyte, reduction of resistance at photoanode/electrolyte interface, and decrease in charge recombination. |
