Synthesis of Mesoporous Silicas Materials for pH-Responsive Drug Delivery |

Well-ordered mesoporous silica (MCM-41) material was prepared by sol-gel approach by using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as surfactant and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as silica precursor under basic condition. Prior to the surfactant extraction, the outer surface of the silica materials were modified with 3-Chloropropyl triethoxysilane (ClPTES) and further modified with melamine functional groups which is desirable to form multiple hydrogen bonding interactions with capping moieties. The resulted materials were used for cargo loading after surfactant extraction and characterizations. The cargo loading/release efficiency was performed at different pH conditions by changing the pH of the release medium. All the obtained results showed that the prepared mesoporous silica nano carrier is suitable for pH-responsive target drug delivery applications. |
