Reinforced electrolyte membranes for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Applications |

Reinforced electrolyte membranes were prepared by pore-filling with highly proton conducting sulfonated poly(arylene ethr sulfone) (SPAES) in the various porous substrates, and characterized for application to the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. The reinforced electrolyte membranes had high proton conductivity of 0.1 S/cm depending on the composition of polymers and substrates. These pore-filled membranes also had excellent properties such as smaller dimensional change, higher mechanical strength, lower fuel crossover and easier preparation process compared to the traditional cast methods. |
