Post-Combustion CO2 Capture Technology Using Dry Regenerable Sorbents |

Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) has developed post-combustion CO2 capture technology using dry regenerable K-based sorbents since 2002. Through process scale-up, 10 MWe-scale pilot plant (35,000 Nm3/h of flue gas treatment) was installed at a real coal-fired power plant. Through 10 MWe-scale pilot plant operation, 50 ton/day liquefied CO2 has been produced. Recently, KIER has also developed next generation post-combustion CO2 capture technology using dry regenerable amine-based sorbents. Amine-based dry sorbents, which were developed by UNOTT and KAIST, have been evaluated on 100 kg scale fluidized-bed continuous unit in KIER. We plan to develop next generation post-combustion CO2 capture technology using dry regenerable sorbents on a pilot scale in the near future. |
