Graphene nanomaterials have attracted vast attention in biological applications, owing to its intrinsic physical and chemical properties. In another hand, existed photosensitizers have some limitations with singlet oxygen generation as well as photobleaching and poor biocompatibility. In this study, we synthesized high quantum yield contain graphene quantum dots with long-term stability in aqueous conditions, pH stability, and biocompatibility that can produce singlet oxygen using laser irradiation. This graphene quantum dots also present a broad absorption band in UV spectroscopy with a strong blue emission. According to in vitro studies, there is no toxic in normal cells and cancer cells, respectively. Also, graphene quantum dots can be used as photodynamic agents along with imaging and cancer therapy. Finally, this study may lead to high quantum yield graphene quantum yields with blue color emission for imaging guided photodynamic therapy. |
