Improvement of flexibility of the brittle substrate via the hybridization with the flexible polymer |
초록 |
Aerogel is the nanoporous, ultra-light and transparent materials with high specific surface area. It is prepared from 3-dimentional network formation via sol-gel chemistry, followed by the special drying technique, most commonly supercritical drying. In spite of its unique structural features, the application of aerogel has been limited due to its brittleness. In this work, silica aerogel possessing the improved flexibility was prepared from the tetraethoxysilane in the presence of hydroxyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane. The silica wet gel was modified via a chemical linking of the hydroxyl group on the surface of aerogel with the terminal group of polydimethylsiloxane. The variation of morphology, specific surface area, transparency and the mechanical strength of the aerogel with the hybridization of flexible polymer were investigated |
