Mechanical Properties of PP/EOC Copolymer Blends |

Polymer blends have become an important area for the development of new polymeric materials. The blends of polypropylene (PP) and ethylene-octene copolymer (EOC) blends which have different compositions were prepared by melt mixing with twin screw extruder. Maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PE-g-MA) was used as the compatibilizer in order to study the effect of the compatibilizer content on mechanical properties and morphology of PP/EOC copolymer (EOC) blends. The influence of the compatibilizer and the composition of the blends on the mechanical properties and morphology of the blends were investigated by universal testing machine (UTM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The increasing of the compatitibilizer content decreases the domain size of the dispersed phase and increases the mechanical properties of the blends. |
