CO2 capture using microalgae is a promising technology to solve the environmental problems concerning the increase of greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere. Microalgal mass culture system with large scale and high density is essential to match the environmental point and economics. Especially, closed photobioreactors are suitable to homogeneous culture that can produce high-value bio products. Herein, the present study aimed to design the large scale bubble column reactor (100L per each) based on different aspects like sparger type, H/D ratio of each column, gas flow rate, KLa, growth profiles, and effect of shear stress. These bubble column reactors enable the achievement in successful treatment of flue gas with microalgae and good growth. |
