Surface Characterization in plasma-treated polypropylene blend |

The surface morphology and characterization of Radio Frequency (RF) plasma-treated polypropylene (PP) blend for automotive bumper was observed, in terms of aging time. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and attenuated total refection- Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were employed to investigate the chemical structure of the PP blend. In addition, the change in surface energy was determined by contact angle measurement. The observation using scanning electron microscope clearly indicated the difference of surface morphology before and after RF plasma treatment. These changes of surface morphology and chemical structure were responsible for the observed wettability and adhesion of the plasma-treated PP blend. |
