Field-induced electroluminescence (EL) of either organic or inorganic fluorescent materials by an alternating current (AC) has attracted great attention as a potential technology for next generation display and lighting applications. Here, we demonstrate the extremely efficient control of field induced EL based on solution-processed CdSe-ZnS core-shell colloidal quantum dots and their hybrids with fluorescent polymers. High performance AC EL was achieved in a simple ITO/insulator/emitter/Au structure of approximately 620 cd/m2 at an applied voltage and AC frequency of 50 V and 300 kHz, respectively. The effective color mixing was also achieved in a phase-segregated nanohybrid of the fluorescent blue polymer and orange quantum dots, giving rise to bright white EL. Furthermore, control of the mixing ratio of polymer to quantum dots allowed convenient emission color tunability. |
