In this study, silk fabrics were successfully coated with silver which have antibacterial properties by simple reduction process of Silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate complex, using H2 gas in high pressure. The silk fabrics without pretreatment were padded with a solution of silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate in isopropyl alcohol and then reduced for the in situ generation of Ag nanoparticles only H2 packing in autoclave. The silver coated silk fabrics were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-Ray (EDX) analyses. The results indicated that the silver nanoparticles were assembled on surface with a size range from 20 to 100nm and conveyed continuous layer of silver metal on the fabric surface. The antibacterial effects of treated silk fabrics against E. coli O157:H7 (KACC 13821) and S. aureus (KACC 13236) were examined and found to be excellent. |
