CO2 hydrogenation to methanol over highly ordered mesoporous Pd-Cu/m-Al2O3 |

Conversion of CO2 to value-added chemicals has been considered as a promising methodology to reduce global warming problem and to find an alternative way for solving the depleting fossil fuel reservoirs. However, efficient catalytic systems with its higher stability have not been well-reported for a practical application. In the present study, a series of Pd-impregnated ordered mesoporous Cu/m-Al2O3 with different Pd loading was prepared by successive impregnation of Cu and Pd on the mesoporous Al2O3 support. The effects of Pd content on the physicochemical properties of the Pd-Cu/m-Al2O3 were investigated and a small amount of Pd promoter with ~ 0.1wt%Pd was significantly increased a methanol space-time yield (STY) of 181.4 g/Kgcat.h at 18.4% CO2 conversion. The methanol productivity seems to be closely related with the surface area and reducibility of the active metals such as Cu and Pd species. |
