In this research, carbon dioxide utilization using one of industrial wastewater, that is, pretreated brine solution produced from natural seawater was dealt. 400 ml of 30 wt% of aqueous MEA solution was used as absorbent and absorption experiment was performed under normal temperature and pressure. After absorbent solution is saturated, pretreated brine solution was mixed with saturated absorbent solution. Pretreated brine water was produced from refined salt production facility and the physical properties of it was suggested. As a result precipitated calcium carbonate salt mixed with other salts derived from seawater was expected to be formed. For analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis were performed. As expected, the results were in accordance with previous expectaton. This technology showed potential that CCU (Carbon Capture and Utilization) can be one of the solution to some nations where terrestrial or deep ocean storage is hard to be achieved. |
