Modified alginate beads were prepared by dropping alginate solution (2% w/v) into CaCl₂solution (1% w/v) then coated by P(NIPAM-co-DMAEMA)(15mol% of DMAEMA). The beads were investigated by morphology, loading efficiency, size, release property. The release from beads was observed in distilled water( 25℃, 30℃, 35℃, 40℃). Above lower critical solution temperature (LCST), release was increased. Because contracted P(NIPAM-co-DMAEMA) would open pores. Whereas below LCST, expanded P(NIPAM-co-DMAEMA) would close pores, leading to a supressed release. The increase of P(NIPAM-co-DMAEMA) (from 0.3% to 1% w/v), release was accelerated. |
