2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have been considered as promising candidates for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) except for noble metal-based materials. However, it was revealed that TMDCs remain unsatisfactory due to the low active basal plane, poor charge transfer and low availability of edge sites. Recently, catalysts with heterostructure composed of electrochemical active materials and various functional additives have been demonstrated to show extraordinary HER performance arising from increasing number of active sites, enhancing conductivity, fast mass diffusion and electron transfer. Hence, novel heterostructure between metal dichalcogenide and metal sulfate was constructed on carbon cloth by a facile hydrothermal method. Compared with pure TMDC, the catalyst with heterostructure not only increase the electrochemical surface area, but also improve the intrinsic activity of active sites of HER. |
