Microalgal biomass can be converted into valuable products by different conversion technologies. In this study, we did the pyrolysis of defatted microalgae biomass, Dunaliella tertiolecta LB999. To determine characteristics of bio-chars and bio-oils, elemental analysis and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) were conducted, respectively. The defatted cell of D.tertiolecta was converted to 52% of bio-chars (solid residue), 32% of bio-oils (liquid phase) and non-condensed gases by slow pyrolysis. The carbon and the nitrogen contents of bio-chars increase as pyrolysis. And acetamide and butanamide are the most abundant compounds in the bio-oils. The high nitrogen content (10.2%) in the microalgal bio-chars can be beneficial to agricultural soil. The bio-oils can be used for fuel and contains useful chemical compounds. |
