The polymers containing carbazole and fullerene (C60) are very interesting materials in organic electronics. For the preparation, blending of C60 and poly(N-vinylcarbzole) or covalently linking of C60 to poly(N-vinylcarbzole) by free radical polymerization were generally reported. However, these methods showed some drawbacks such as phase separation, low miscibility, and heterogenous distribution. In this study, we synthesized well-defined poly(2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)ethyl methacrylate) by living anionic polymerization using diphenylmethyl potassium and diethyl zinc to prevent side reaction. Additionally, to investigate living character and study micro-phase separation, the block copolymerization of 2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)ethyl methacrylate were successfully carried out. Finally, based on the living character of PCzMA, C60 was introduced to end of polymer chain by end-capping reaction and in the middle of polymer chain by polymer coupling reaction. |
