Production of size-controlled, monodisperse ellipsoidal block copolymer particles using SPG membrane emulsification |
초록 |
Nanostructured block copolymer (BCP) particles achieved significant attention due to their great potential as a functional colloidal building block. Recently, facile approaches for producing non-spherical shaped BCP particles by precise tuning of interfacial energies between block copolymer and surrounding has emerged. However, achieving particle size was not found where conventional preparation method involves ultrasonication or homogenization, which gives polydisperse emulsion. Here, we introduce monodisperse, ellipsoidal shaped polystyrene-b-polybutadiene (PS-b-PB) particles by precise control of interfacial interaction combined with Shirasu Porous Glass (SPG) membrane emulsification. Formation mechanism was studied by varying particle size and molecular weight, which demonstrates interplay of particle size, chain stretching penalty and interfacial interaction of BCP altogether determines overall shape and nanostructure of a particle. |
