제목 A GISAXS Studyon theStructure of Columnar Discotic Liquid Crystals in Thin Films
초록 Discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) have attracted considerable interests as application in organic electronics such as field effect transistor, light emitting diode and photovoltaics. Typically, DLC molecules consist of rigid aromatic core with several flexible side chains. Depending on their specific molecular structure and thermodynamic state, DLCs have been found to exist in various phases such as nematic, hexagonal columnar and rectangular columnar. In the columnar phases, the overlap of delocalized π-orbitals between neighboring aromatic cores provides excellent charge carrier mobility only along the columnar directors. For the practical applications, it is required to fabricate a thin film of uniaxially oriented and highly ordered columnar structure of DLCs over a macroscopic area of substrate. Here, we report the surface-induced edge-on arrangement of two kinds of columnar DLCs, CoSx (x = 10, 12, 14) and HBC-C12, which is investigated by GISAXS measurements.
