In vitro evaluation of extracellular matrix coated electrospun membrane for vascular tissue engineering application |

Polycaprolactone (PCL) and Extracellular matrix(ECM) are widely used for tissue engineering applications due to their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. The aim of this study is to develop a simple approach for ECM coating on PCL-mPEG electrospun membrane for vascular tissue engineering application. PCL is fist modified with Poly ethylene glycol methylether(mPEG) to make PCL-mPEG electrospun membrane. Then the membrane is further coated with ECM using a simple approach and compared with uncoated samples. Biological evaluations were assessed by rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(RBMSC) and differentiation of the cells were induced by vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF) for endothelial cell and smooth muscle cell respectively. ECM coated PCL-mPEG membrane is a promising way to enhance mechanical and biological properties for vascular tissue engineering. |
