Effect of surface functional groups on Pt/CMK-3 catalysts for the hydrogen production via aqueous phase reforming of ethylene glycol |

In this study, we investigate how the surface functional groups on OMC support can enhance the catalyst activity for APR of polyol. CMK-3 support having a 2-D hexagonal structure was used as a support material and prepared using 4 different carbon precursors such as FA (furfural alcohol), SC (sucrose), MP (mesoporous pitch), and GL (glucose) to know the effect of surface oxyfunctional group. Among the tested catalysts, the Pt/CMK-3 catalyst synthesized with SC as the carbon precursor (Pt/CMK-3-SC) shows excellent H2 production yield for APR reaction. The improved performance might be attributable to preventing Pt agglomeration during the reaction with the presence of more oxyfunctional groups on CMK-3 support |
