Effects of Ionic Liquid Molecules in Hybrid PbS Quantum Dot - Organic Solar Cells |

We have first observed the realization of high performance in HyQD-OSCs using the PbS nanoparticles and PCBM with ILMs, which consist of 1-benzyl-3-methylimidazolium cations and chloride anions. The inserted ILMs layer between the PbS and PCBM layer shifts the band edge of the PCBM closer to the vacuum level of the PbS, because of the spontaneously oriented dipole. Therefore, the enhanced device performances, VOC of 0.41 V to 0.49 V, FF of 0.48 to 0.59, and PCE of 1.58% to 2.13%, were achieved compared to the reference device. This outstanding enhancement of QD-SCs with first introduced interface engineering can offer a way to overcome the low VOC to achieve high PCE in the QD-SCs field. |
