In this study, two hole-transporting alternating copolymers, such as poly{[N-(2-ethylhexyl)-3,6-dibromocarbazole]-alt-aniline} and poly{bis[6-N-(2-ethylhexyl)-carbazole-3-yl]-alt-aniline}, were synthesized by Pd-catalyzed polycondensation of corresponding dibromocarbazole monomers and aninile, respectively. As dibromocarbazole monomers, N-(2-ethylhexyl)-3,6-dibromocarbazole] was synthesized from N-2-ethylhexyl-bromide and 3,6-dibromo-carbazole, and bis[6-bromo-N-(2-ethylhexyl)-carbazole-3-yl] was synthesized from carbazole, N-2-ethylhexylbromide, iron(III) chloride and N-bromosuccinimide. The synthesized monomers were confirmed by GC and NMR. GPC was used to measure the molecular weight and polydispersity of the polymers. Thermal, optical and electrochemical properties of the polymers are also investigated in detail in terms of structural characteristics of hole-transporting polymers |
