Halloysite nanotubes are aluminum-silicate hollow cylinder with length of 1~3μm and diameter of 30~70nm. These materials are used for loading and releasing of corrosion inhibitors. Benzotriazole was loaded into halloysite nanotubes and the loading of benzotriazole was confirmed by TEM images. Halloysite nanotubes were mixed with solution of benzotriazole in acetone, and the cycle of vacuum-release was conducted three or four times in order to increase loading efficiency. Benzotriazole loaded halloysite nanotubes embedded in zirconia-organosilane sol solution and modified epoxy resin, respectively. The coating solution was coated on aluminum and iron substrate by dip or spin coating, and then thermally cured. Corrosion protection properties of the samples were analyzed by electrochemical impedence spectroscopy(EIS) and salt-spray test. The coatings with benzotriazole loaded halloysite nanotubes showed much better corrosion protection ability compared with coatings without them. |
