Bio-inspired synthesis of SiO2/epoxy composite |
초록 |
Material scientists can obtain idea from the structures, properties and formation processes of biominerals. And these materials have great potential for new functional materials. If we use the bio-inspired technology of abalone shell nano-composite in the ocean, it can be developed and also can be planned a research on mass production of higher strength, higher elasticity, and extremely light weight advanced nano-composite materials. Nacre is a biogenic composite consisting of alternating layers of mineral tablets separated by thin layers of a bio macromolecular matrix. Nacre is composed of ~ 95 wt. % CaCO3 plates which have dimensions of ~ 5-20 μm in length and ~ 0.5-1.0 μm in thickness. The remaining ~ 5 wt. % of nacre is composed of a protein-rich organic matrix ~ 30-50 nm in thickness which acts as adhesive layers connecting aragonite tablets, thus maintaining the structural integrity of the composite. Ceramic plates SiO2 have been used to form organic-inorganic composite material using epoxy. We have made green body using hand press and it have soaking in epoxy. Green body have infiltration by epoxy which were hardened by heat and we have attempted higher strength compact using warm press. Green body which were Infiltated was measured bending strength and hardness of pre and post-warm pressing, and then it were measured FE-SEM, TG, specific gravity to determine the amount of epoxy of interlayer plate particles. |
