제목 | Rotational dynamics of colloidal chains at a fluid-fluid interface |
초록 | The expedition for designing new induces dipolar colloids is demanding for simple experimental models to study the collective behavior. Most synthetic dipolar induced particles move by using time-sharing optical laser tweezer apparatus to investigate the rotational motion. Here, we address the question of whether simple dipolar induced Janus spheres can assemble into linear structures near the oil/water interface that exhibit rotational motion. We study how rotation motion occurs between interfacial particles and remaining individual swimmers in a chain that can affect its angular behavior. Janus particle chains showed pinning of an interfacial particle at lower laser power, whereas permanent rigid chains showed effective interfacial rotation at higher laser power. Moreover, we are able to confirm our pinning experimental results with dynamic contact angle using a tensiometer. Our method opens a new way to study novel angular phenomena of colloids with enforced swimming behaviors. |
