Influence of Iron Oxide on Electrochemical Performance of MWNTs/PPy Composites for Supercapacitor |

In this work, iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticle-dispersed multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and polypyrrole composites were synthesized using in-situ polymerization method. The effect of the Fe3O4 incorporation on the electrochemical properties of the MWNTs/PPy composites was investigated. The structures of Fe-MWNTs/PPy were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The thermal properties of Fe-MWNTs/PPy were characterized by thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). The electrochemical performance of Fe-MWNTs/PPy was determined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge characteristics in 1.0 M sulfuric acid electrolyte. The results showed that the Fe-MWNTs/PPy electrode had typical pseudo-capacitive behavior and a greater specific capacitance than that of the MWNT/PPy electrode. |
