Separation Characteristics of 2-Methyl-4-Chlorophenoxyacetic Acid onto GAC |

Adsotption characteristics of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid from aqueous solution onto a granular activated carbon, F-400 (Calgon, USA), were studied. Adsorption equilibrium of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid acid onto GAC could be represented by Langmuir equation. Adsorption qquilibrium capacity increased with decreasing pH and temperature of the solution. Batch experiment of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid onto GAC shows that film mass transfer coefficient increased with decreasing pH. An adsorption model based on the linear driving force approximation (LDFA) was used for simulating the adsorption behavior of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid in a fixed bed adsorber. Ninety five percent desorption of 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid can be obtained using distilled water. |
