Polyelectrolyte inkjet printing method for cell patterning and migration on polyelectrolyte multilayer films |

We have studied cellular interactions on various polyelectrolyte multilayer films which were assembled by layer-by-layer process. Cellular behaviors on weak polyelectrolyte multilayers were very distinctive corresponding to the film assembly condition even with the same polyelectrolytes were used. Some multilayers exhibited an excellent resistance toward cell adhesion including human normal and cancer cells. Various polyelectrolyte patterns were fabricated on multilayer film by using inkjet printing technique. And cell adhesive biomolecule such as RGD-peptide can be easily introduced in functional groups of patterned polymer chain. RGD-peptide patterned polyelectrolyte films enable to create cell patterns, which is important to study cell movement. In the study of cell motility on micropatterned surface, we observed different motility behavior from normal, cancer and neuronal cells. |
