The main purpose of this study was to prepare novel poly (amide imide) with improved solubility without sacrificing thermal stability. Preparation of new types of poly(amide imide) with high thermal stability and improved solubility was considered. In this way new anhydrides containing bulky pendant units were prepared in two step. Two series of new poly(amide-imide) were prepared from the reaction of these two dianhydrides with various diamines by one step polyimidization process. The resulting polymer, PAI were characterized by FT-IR, H-NMR and C- NMR techniques. DSC and TGA were used to investigate the thermal properties of the PAI. The PAI were readily soluble in polar aprotic solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP), N,N-dimethylacetamide(DMAc), N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF), dimethyl sofoxide(DMSO) and pyridine and formed flexible films via solution casting. |
