제목 Adaptive Hybrid Materials for Controlled Molecular and Cell Transports
초록 Various living organisms adapt to external chemical and physical stimuli and change their microstructure, geometry, and chemical and mechanical properties. These adaptive behaviors further influence molecular and cell transports in their bodies. To this end, we have been developing hybrid material systems that can mimic or recapitulate the adaptive behavior of living organisms and, in turn, improve the therapeutic efficacy of drug or stem cells. We assemble these hybrid materials by using natural or synthetic material systems, coupled with biological cells. As such, in this talk, I will cover two adaptive material systems; (1) The Venus fly trap-inspired material that can change its shape and, in turn, alters release rate of vascular medicine. This material can also allow minimally invasive delivery of molecules and cells into the target tissue. (2) The parasite-mimicking, superparamagnetic particle cluster that can actively adhere to diseased blood vessels and highlight them in bioimages. These nanoclusters significantly increase the performance-to-dose ratio.
