제목 Preparation and Characterization of Biodegradable LDPE/(APES or TPS) / Organoclay Ternary Nanocomposites
초록 Novel biodegradable low density polyethylene (LDPE)/(aliphatic polyester (APES) or thermoplastic starch (TPS)) /organoclay ternary nanocomposites were prepared through melt intercalation method. Five kinds of organoclay, Cloisite 30B, 20A, 10A and 6A with different ammonium cations located in the silicate gallery and unmodified Na+, were chosen. The dispersion of the silicate layers in the LDPE/(APES or TPS) hybrids was characterized by using WAXD and TEM. Tensile, thermal stability, and barrier properties of these clay hybrids were also studied. The results showed that adding organoclay to the LDPE/APES blend systems is favorable to improve the tensile strength and barrier properties of these hybrids. The influences of the interaction between the LDPE and TPS, APES, and the silicate layers of organoclays were also investigated by incorporating ionomer, poly(LDPE-g-GMA), or poly (ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) as a compatibilizer. It was shown that the addition of ionomer improved the compatibility between LDPE and TPS, and the storage modulus of the hybrid with ionomer was improved in comparison to that without the compatibilizer. And the composites with LDPE-g-GMA compatibilizer can make intercalation hybrid nanocomposites, due to some interaction between LDPE and APES or Closite 20A.
